ADAC, TÜV, DEKRA or a mobile used-car inspection?

The location shapes what can be inspected

Ask the seller whether the car can be taken to an agreed inspection at a testing station or workshop. Access, timing and the conditions for the journey need to be settled. Ask the provider which equipment and checks are actually included in your appointment.

An inspection where the car is being sold is another option. Light, space and accessible areas affect what can be seen or measured there. If a particular question requires a vehicle lift or further diagnostics, discuss it before selecting a package.

Two different ADAC services

ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg lists partner locations for used-car examinations. Ask your chosen location about appointments, scope and its current price. The regional overview notes that not every partner provides every service at all times.

ADAC's testing vehicles visit published stops and offer individual tests, some of them seasonal. You take the car to that stop. Check the available measurements and the current tour schedule: this use of 'mobile' describes a different arrangement from booking an inspection at your seller's address.

Station inspections, video and separate modules

TÜV NORD describes its AutoKaufCheck at a station and a separate online option. With the online service, someone beside the car follows the expert's instructions using a smartphone camera. Consider who will be at the vehicle and what information the chosen method can provide.

DEKRA offers combinable checks of technical condition, bodywork and vehicle systems, as well as individual used-car examinations. Compare the scope actually offered. An inspection organisation's name alone does not tell you which modules you are ordering or which questions they will resolve.

Choosing a KFZ Wedding inspection

For our Mobile car check, we come to the agreed vehicle location in Berlin. We examine accessible areas, functions and available diagnostic readings, documenting findings and limits. The standard mobile check does not include a test drive. There is no vehicle lift at the mobile location.

Car Check Plus adds inspection time, suitable deeper measurements and a more detailed assessment. It includes a VIN query. A test drive is included only when permission has been given, the vehicle is registered and the drive can be carried out safely. For a Workshop car check, the vehicle is brought to Wedding for the agreed appointment. The benefit of lift access depends on the agreed inspection scope. We discuss the suitable location and any travel charge with you personally.

Ask specific questions before ordering

Tell the provider which car you are considering, where it stands and your most important unresolved question. Ask for the total price and the included checks. You can then compare services that address the same buying decision.

• Does the package include a test drive, and who settles its conditions?
• How are findings, photographs and unavailable checks recorded?
• What travel or additional service is included in the agreed total price?
